Step-by-step instructional video on how to make macarons

Macarons are a little French dessert, which primarily consists of meringue combined with almond flour and icing sugar. It is flavoured with essence, coloured with powder and sandwiched together with a filling (usually ganache but sometimes buttercream, curd, Nutella or even preserves).

In the video below I demonstrate how to make macarons, using a hot method recipe, and navigate the intricacies of perfecting these little meringue-like biscuits.

How to make rainbow frosted cupcakes

Rainbow roses created with a Wilton 2D nozzle Who doesn't love rainbows? They appear after the rain when the sun starts peeking through and bring some cheer and happiness because of how colourful they are.  It is also a great theme for kiddies birthday parties.  Over the weekend I made some cupcakes for my friend's niece's birthday party and used a simple trick to get the rainbow effect with my frosting. Check out my how to video below, which shows you how to create the rainbow effect and then I demonstrate how to pipe roses with the Wilton 2D nozzle. Catch sunset on Kloof Corner

Don't miss so many of them." - Jo Walton Sunset from Kloof Corner One of my favourite, short and sweet hikes to do is Kloof Corner. You shouldn’t underestimate the distance of the hike, which is only one kilometre from the start of the trail to the beacon, because it is quite a workout and will get your heart racing.  The plus side is that it is dog-friendly and has the most scenic views of Lions Head, the Camps Bay beach strip, the 12 Apostles and the city bowl from the viewing point at the beacon.  It is the perfect spot to catch an amazing sunrise or sunset.
