Two kids ride the Table Mountain cable car free with a paying adult

If you are anything like me, you love a good deal and it’s even better when you get something for free. I also love the allure of the mountain, as you can probably tell from my Gram posts, and during my recent staycation there was a combination of all of these things.

For this trip we substituted our hiking boots for cable car tickets and what made it even sweeter was that my niece and nephew received a free ride.  It’s Kidz Season at Table Mountain Aerial Cableway but hurry because the promotion ends on 24 September 2018. With one adult return ticket purchased for R250, two kids travel free. They even get vouchers to collect free candy from the shop when you get to the top.

You can check their rates and whether they are open on their website.

On the ride up we could see so many Proteas on the face of the mountain.

The mountain is never the same every day, because of the weather, but the 7th wonder of nature is still worth experiencing.

The kids were really excited about riding the cable car and the revolving floor, which allows for the 360 degree view, enhances the experience.

We were lucky to enjoy a fairly sunny day although the wind was quite chilly, with partial views as the clouds came over.

When you are up so high, you are almost touching the sky...

The klip dassies didn’t disappoint and were quite eager to pose for some pictures.

Pointing out Cape Town Stadium and the V & A Waterfront.

Watching the cars go by...

So many hues of blue.

You'd swear he gets paid for this.

We saw birds bathing in some rock pools, pointed out the iconic sites and even looked for ouma and oupa’s house.

I went down somewhat of a rabbit hole trying to explain to a six and four year old that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated on Robben Island. I was fine until the why's started...

Just taking in the view.

Hiking the Noordhoek Peak Circuit in Silvermine

An easy 7km trail that is kid and dog-friendly My love affair with Silvermine Nature Reserve, part of the Table Mountain National Park, started four years ago when we hiked the Noordhoek Peak Circuit. I absolutely fell in love with the place - so much so that almost every Sunday, come rain or shine, you can find us exploring one of the Reserve’s trails.  Naturally when we got Kygo, our exuberant Rottweiler, we took him along on our hikes. Kygo was built with adventure hard-coded in his DNA. He absolutely loves water, swimming and outdoor adventures, and Silvermine offers all of this.  Kygo and I at the Noordhoek Peak Circuit looking out over Hout Bay About the Noorhoek Peak Circuit The Noordhoek Peak Circuit is a 7km hike that you can comfortably complete in about 2 and a half hours. With an elevation of 754m at the Peak, it offers spectacular views of some of Cape Town’s most amazing beaches. This hike is incredibly beautiful and as you are walking there are so many different...

Pumpkin-spiced enrichment stuffing recipe for dogs

Sneaking in extra veggies and micro-nutrients Finding treats that are healthy, don’t break the calorie bank, are packed with nutrients and delicious too, sounds like a tall order. But it is within reach… This enrichment stuffing recipe was created with fussy eaters in mind, where you are able to sneak more veg and fruit into their diet and contains some great ingredients for dogs with allergies.   It is really simple to make and because you are freezing it, it can keep for a long time. Although I make a batch at least once a week. And I’m sure you will be too, because your dogs will love it. Ingredients 1kg pumpkin (can be substituted with butternut or sweet potato)  2 tablespoons of coconut oil (Coconut oil is good for a shiny coat, for allergies and itchy skin, boosts their immune, improves cognitive function and treats arthritis and ligament issues, according to Rover.com ). 4 tablespoons of peanut butter (a dog-friendly variety, preferably one that has no added sa...

How to make rainbow frosted cupcakes

Rainbow roses created with a Wilton 2D nozzle Who doesn't love rainbows? They appear after the rain when the sun starts peeking through and bring some cheer and happiness because of how colourful they are.  It is also a great theme for kiddies birthday parties.  Over the weekend I made some cupcakes for my friend's niece's birthday party and used a simple trick to get the rainbow effect with my frosting. Check out my how to video below, which shows you how to create the rainbow effect and then I demonstrate how to pipe roses with the Wilton 2D nozzle. I used my regular red velvet recipe with a cream cheese frosting (check my YouTube channel for it).  Give me a like, share or leave a comment. Thanks ;)
